A wildlife photographer—@gregpiperarts—actually left this on my post: “These bears do not exist for the enjoyment of visitors and would-be photographers. You people know nothing about conservation, you only care about what makes you feel good. Alaska’s fish and wildlife is the best in the world! They know what works for ‘real’ conservation, not ‘feel-good’ conservation. When there are too many animals and not enough resources, it is their job to control the population. Stop making a social media ‘crisis’ over everything you know nothing about! Go back to sleep please.” Yes—someone who photographs bears for a living is defending aerial gunning of wolves and bears as “real conservation.” What’s even more shocking? How many bear photographers and head guides in Alaska are completely silent on this. These are people who owe their careers to these animals—who market bear tours, sell prints, and build platforms off the backs of bears—and when it comes time to speak up, they disappear. Why do you think that is? Fear of losing permits? Ties to ADFG? Or is it just easier to stay silent and keep profiting while pretending to care? If you spend your life around bears and still won’t speak out against their slaughter… what does that say? 🟤 Curious to hear your thoughts—why are so many staying quiet on this? They need to seriously fuckin stop this shit. Every fuckin corner of the world in every aspect they feel the need to intervene. Leave shit alone.

Aerial shooting of animals: bears, wolves, horses is ego driven. Ultimately it is really about creating less competition for those who hunt when the real balance comes from the Apex predators that are hunted by Humans. The decision is driven by money, not for the benefit of the animals. What happened before humans invaded their space/home?! Somehow it all works together, there is always an equilibrium that becomes established unless we interject ourselves in the nature.

I think the only way to properly discuss this is through a long form moderated conversation. It’s a very nuanced and potentially emotional topic and cannot be given the proper care it needs from behind a keyboard in the IG comments.

So many hunters have contacted me to thank you for filing my lawsuit against the State of Alaska to stop this predator control program targeting bears and wolves. The brutality and lack of regard for life shown by the State in carrying out this targeted killing of animals offends the sensibilities of even those who want to hunt the members of the Mulchatna Caribou Herd. Very few people, except for a couple of the Commissioner’s toadies, have spoken out in support of this predator control program.

They don’t deserve to take pictures of them & profit from it. They’re beautiful ❤️‍🩹

@gregpiperarts Maybe instead of posting hate you could actually try and explain why you think this is acceptable and the right way to go about conservation? Tell us what we “don’t understand”. Teach us what we “know nothing about”.

Killing one species to preserve hunting opportunities is not remotely related to environmental well being, it can be considered conservation of a resource if you consider wildlife as a resource for your use but wildlife has innate value beyond what we want or value. Wildlife is a public trust and our responsibility is to maintain ecological integrity and diversity. Not game pens for recreation

Hi! I would love to know what you think the issue is that they are trying to solve, and explain their idea to fix the issue, followed by your suggestion to fix the issue. This would be much clearer for getting across your point :)

That guy is just a tattoo 'artist' 🙄with a nice camera. Far from a true wildlife photographer who has knowledge of and cares about the many species. Keep up your good work @thewildlifecollective_ 👏❤️

Bears, barn owls, wolves…. My heart breaks every day. It’s my feeling that if man didn’t intervene, nature would take care of itself. I believe the MURDER of animals is psychopathic.

I absolutely do not support it, it’s just that simple

Why do humans insist on interfering with Mother Nature. If there are too many bears and not enough resources, nature will balance itself out. That's how it is supposed to be. I'm ok with responsible hunting of animals for the purpose of providing food, but killing animals to do what Mother Nature herself will do, is unnecessary.

🐻 Tiny Cubs, Big Lessons These two cubs were born just this spring, still so small, clumsy, and full of curiosity. What may look like playful wrestling is actually something much bigger: learning. They’re learning from their mom. They’re learning from each other. They’re learning what it takes to survive in the wild. But what happens when these families are taken from the ecosystem? Bears aren’t just beautiful, they’re essential. They spread seeds, fertilize forests, balance prey populations, and shape entire landscapes. When we eliminate bears, we don’t just lose a species, we unravel the entire balance of the wild. That’s why the recent decision by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game to allow aerial shooting of brown bear families is not only heartbreaking, it’s dangerous. A mother and her cubs, like these two, can now be legally hunted from the sky. No warning. No chance. No mercy. This is not conservation. This is a crisis. This is not balance. This is brutality. We owe these cubs more than admiration, we owe them protection. 📣 👉 COMMENT to speak up for these cubs. Tag @adfg.official @govdunleavy @marypeltola Let them hear us: THIS IS NOT OKAY. Every single comment counts. Let’s flood their feeds with truth. Drop a ❤️ if you believe these cubs deserve a chance. 🏷️ Tag your friends and tell Alaska’s leaders what you think. Because love for these bears is not enough we have to act. Let’s be LOUD. Let’s be MANY. Let’s be UNIGNORABLE. #Alaska #Katmai #BrownBears #GrizzlyBear #BearGuide #BearViewing #BearWatching #BearPhotography #WildlifePhotography #NaturePhotography #WildlifeConservation #ConservationPhotography #NatureLovers #BearLove #BearCountry #AlaskaWildlife #WildernessCulture #WildernessNation #WildlifePlanet #WildlifePerfection #ExploreWildlife #WildlifeAddicts #BearsOfInstagram #ProtectWhatYouLove #BeTheChange #natgeo #nationalgeographic #natgeowild #yourshotphotographer

In a deeply concerning move, the Alaska Board of Game has unanimously approved the reinstatement of the controversial Mulchatna bear control program, ignoring over 60,000 public comments opposing the cruel program. 💔 According to the @AlaskaWildlifeAlliance, the decision gives the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (@ADFG.official) the authority to carry out aerial gunning of bears, of any age or sex, across a vast 40,000-square-mile region. This includes land just 30 miles from Katmai National Park and 50 miles from McNeil River, two globally renowned bear-viewing destinations. The new regulation, effective until 2028, allows unlimited aerial gunning of bears at any time, without any restriction to season or location, and lacks protections for sows with cubs. 💔 Video by: @thewildlifecollective_ 🚨TAKE ACTION & READ MORE: 🌍👉 WorldAnimalNews.com (LINK IN OUR BIO)👆@worldanimalnews_ @peace_4animals #WorldAnimalNews #Bears #alaska #animals #Wildlife #Mulchatna #bearcubs

[EDIT: fully funded in 34 minutes! follow @1510foundation for pupdates on Eggroll] This is Eggroll. She’s just a baby who was found alone in a park, struggling to breathe. She had injuries that indicate she was bitten by a dog. Her top lip was separated from her jaw and she had puncture wounds through her nasal canal. She needed her entire mouth sewn back together again, along with the teeniest little tubes to help her nostrils heal correctly. You can help her cover the cost of her surgery through the link in our bio ❤️‍🩹 Thank you to @forgottendogsrescue for rescuing her.
