When food stylist Pearl Jones (@mpearljones) was renovating her kitchen in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, she knew one thing for sure: like a great recipe, she was prepared to start from scratch. While utility was essential—she needed space for dinner parties and photo shoots—she also envisioned the room as a locus of self-expression. But the price of a kitchen renovation can climb well into six figures, and she was determined to find cost-saving alternatives to deliver a chic, high-end look with the same quality of materials. Living in Saint-Ouen, a suburb just outside Paris, felt like a natural choice for architect Hugo Vince, and his wife, artist and painter Caroline Derveaux (@carolinederveaux). “When we began our relationship, after 17 years of friendship, it felt natural for us to look for a place in Saint-Ouen where we could build a new home—a place to create our family and stimulate our creativity and imagination,” says Derveaux. Abune Yemata Guh is a 5th-century rock-hewn church carved into a sheer cliff in #Ethiopia’s Gheralta Mountains. Perched at 2,580 meters above sea level, it is accessible only via a challenging climb up vertical rock faces and narrow ledges. Rooted in ancient sun-worship traditions and built along the coast of the Yellow Sea, the Sun Tower by OPEN Architecture is a 50-meter-tall cultural venue that functions as a lighthouse, amphitheater, observatory, and sundial. Designed with celestial precision, its form responds to seasonal light, aligning with the solstices and equinoxes. Currently under construction in Los Angeles’s Exposition Park, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is set to open in 2026. Designed by MAD Architects, the sculptural building rises like a pair of interwoven canopies, blending seamlessly with its 11-acre campus of green spaces, galleries, theaters, and more. This will be the first institution dedicated entirely to narrative art across cultures and mediums — from iconic works by artists like Frida Kahlo and Norman Rockwell to film props and concept art from George Lucas’s archive.
