How messed up is that? A girl loses her wallet. A guy picks it up and calls out to her, “Hey! Hey!” She keeps walking and says, “I have a boyfriend, I have a boyfriend!” thinking he’s trying to hit on her—like so many men do on the street. Then he says, “I just wanted to return your wallet.” She’s surprised, wants to thank him—but he throws it on the ground and walks away, saying: “Yeah, well, you have a boyfriend, right?” And now she’s left picking her wallet up off the floor, feeling embarrassed. Seriously? She has to feel ashamed for ignoring a guy who called out from behind? Women get harassed all the time. If they respond, they get insulted. If they don’t, they still get insulted. She reacted normally—like any woman who’s probably been through this before. This wasn’t her fault. This was victim-blaming made into some dramatic scene. I really hope this was just staged.
