Should the Brooks Falls bears be shot from helicopters? That’s what the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is trying to do—expanding a predator control zone just 50 miles from Brooks Falls, 3 miles from Lake Clark, and 30 miles from Katmai. Under this program, ADFG has already killed 197 brown bears in the past two years—including mothers and their cubs—by aerial gunning from helicopters. Let that sink in. This program was ruled illegal—and now they want to bring it back through a rushed process. What’s worse? 📉 There’s no scientific evidence that killing predators helps caribou herds. 🦅 In some years, golden eagles killed more calves than bears or wolves. 🐺 They already killed 250 wolves in this region by 2017—and the Mulchatna herd still collapsed. Predator control doesn’t work. But the damage to wildlife is irreversible. So why kill iconic, protected wildlife for a program that’s been proven ineffective and is a waste of taxpayer money? We can still stop this. 📝 Comment “save the bears” and I’ll DM you the link to submit a public comment. Takes 2 minutes. You don’t have to be from Alaska. But your voice can help protect these bears. 🛑 Deadline: July 7 🗓 Hearing: July 14 Let’s speak up before more lives are lost.
