Carl, Beagle (3 y/o), Gansevoort Plaza, New York, NY • “They told me he was six years old when I got him, and then the vet said he’s closer to one. Someone tied him up outside a vet’s office and abandoned him there. He likes food, and he likes trash. He can open the cabinet, so then I got a child lock on it, and he figured it out. So then I got a baby gate, and he figured out how to get in it. Then I got two baby gates, and he was jumping up, unlocking it, then going down and lifting it up and pulling it over. I just throw out the trash every time I leave now. He’s very goofy, and he likes to go under the covers, which I like.”

He’s become really obsessed with mud puddles. He will purposely find a mud puddle, run right to it, start digging, and then come back because he knows he’s not actually supposed to do it. So he gets his quick digs, and then he’s like, okay.”
