When she passed, I was struggling to find another dog that I wanted to adopt. So I thought I would adopt one that looked just like her, but he is evil reincarnate Chica. He’s the exact opposite. Tank, Dachshund (1 y/o), Spring & Greene St., New York, NY • “He’s very high maintenance – he had steak for breakfast. I grew up with a black Lab, so I was a big dog person, but I don’t even feel like Tank’s a small dog. I feel like it’s a different category, like a different species. He struts like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. During my mental health crisis, he was a major help. I don’t think I would go outside if I didn’t have a dog. And he’s gotten me in with a lot of celebrities – Millie Bobby Brown, Brooke Shields on her birthday. He’s like a joy factory.”

I used to live in Miami, and my neighbor had a Swissy. I met him and immediately fell in love. They love people, love dogs. Not a bad bone in their body. She loves people watching. Honestly, she’s really good. I got lucky – she’s incredibly well behaved. She’s changed my life for the better. She definitely made me more patient in the puppy days, and now I just appreciate the little things more. I work from home, and getting to pet my dog and show her some love between meetings is always a positive.”
