1️⃣Village Park Restaurant乡村公园餐厅
📍 5, Jalan SS 21/37, Damansara Utama
Village Park Restaurant offers the most famous Nasi Lemak in town. Sambal, rice cooked in coconut milk and fried chicken marinated in lemongrass, turmeric, and ginger. We also had Beef Rendang, beef pieces slow-cooked in spiced coconut gravy.
2️⃣ Roti Canai and Roti Tissue
We went to a little stop next door for bandung drink, a sweet drink made from condensed milk and rose syrup. We also had different kinds of Roti 印度煎饼 some sugary and some savory. Tks @quachee and @leegernest !!
3️⃣ Oriental Kopi for dinner
📍Lot 1.31.00 Level 1, Pavilion, Bukit Bintang
Back again at Oriental Kopi for dinner. A couple highlights for me were the Oriental Laksa Mee 咖喱叻沙面 a spicy, tangy noodle soup with a creamy coconut or tamarind-based broth and the Curry Cheong Fun 特色咖喱肠粉, steamed rice noodle rolls resembling pig intestines in shape. 4️⃣TNR by Sean & Angie | Best Charsiew in PJ

Not kidding about being the best – have not had better in China. It’s perfectly caramelized and extra fatty for a melt-in-the-mouth experience. We also had hickory smoked chicken 烟熏鸡 and hakka noodles 客家面 served dry with minced pork.
5️⃣ Kwong Wah Ais Kacang
📍627, Jalan 17/8, Seksyen 17,
Kwong Wah Ais Kacang was established in 1958 and is beloved by locals. We got their cendol, green rice flour jelly noodles served over finely shaved ice and topped with red beans.

6️⃣ Madras Ricksha Bangsar
📍9A, Jalan Telawi 5, Bangsar
Banana Leaf Rice is a South Indian beloved comfort food in Malaysia. I did a poor job recording ingredients but it’s usually served with white rice, vegetable side dishes, sauces, curry, cooked meats, fried fish, and more.
7️⃣Flurrė by Fluffed
📍 19, Jalan SS 3/37, Taman Universiti
Flurrē by Fluffed is a contemporary dessert café known for its inventive take on traditional Korean shaved ice. Their desserts are incredibly eye-catching – we got the Lucid Dream (with butterfly pea lime) and Princess Peach.

Located in Chinatown, it received a 2023 Bib Gourmand. Signature dish is Lala Noodle Soup 啦啦米 – fresh clams and shrimp (if you’d like) on thin rice vermicelli, immersed in an aromatic broth infused with Chinese yellow wine and ginger.

This restaurant is actually not based in Kuala Lumpur, but in East Malaysia. You can check out their page for a video we did together. They brought the food to me and it was spectacular.
3️⃣十号胡同Hutong Lot 10

Lot 10 Hutong is a heritage food court, with stalls offering over 20 of the country’s most famous street foods. I had the Moonlight Hor Fun (月光河), stir-fried, wok hei’d flat rice noodles topped with a raw egg yolk.

Oriental Kopi, established in 2020, is the new “it” chain that everyone was suggesting. It’s a Malaysian kopitiam (coffee shop) that celebrates Nanyang’s food culture. For breakfast, I got a custard tart and Malaysian white coffee, which involves lighter roasting method used compared to traditional darker roasts. It’s typically brewed strong and served with condensed milk.
5️⃣Canton Kitchen 老招牌 Happy Garden

Canton Kitchen offers a variety of traditional Cantonese and Guangxi specialties. Even though a lot of the dishes were familiar, they were served with a distinct Malaysian Chinese spin. My favorites were the Chef’s Special Homemade Rice 秘制家乡扬饭, Guang Xi Stuffed Tofu Ball 广西酿豆腐卜, and Prawn Meat Roll桂花酱茄腐皮虾卷.
