☪️ @openiftar returned to AFC Wimbledon on Sunday – and as part of this special event we were delighted to host a World Cup winner!
For the second successive year, the Cherry Red Records Stadium was one of the destinations selected for Open Iftar, a cornerstone initiative of the @ramadantentproject, which has brought together over one million people across the UK.
And there was a surprise guest speaker this time around to offer inspiration to over 300 guests with former Arsenal and Real Madrid midfielder @m10_official - a member of Germany’s 2014 World Cup winning squad - popping along.
In attendance were people from all backgrounds – including different faiths and non-faiths – for an event that summed up ‘Connection’, which is the theme of Ramadan Tent Project’s Open Iftar and Ramadan Festival 2025.
Following an uplifting programme, guests broke their fasts just after 6pm, before gathering for prayer, and returning to the stands to enjoy their Iftar meals.
Mesut Özil joined Hamza Hanif, founder of Sunna Supplements, and Abdullah Almamun from Islamic Relief UK, as one of the guest speakers pitchside to offer inspirational words to people at the event.
