VOGUE
@lenadunham’s new show "Too Much" doesn’t share a lot of DNA with "Girls," apart from the fact that it also revolves around a Lena-ish figure. Yet, once again, Dunham proves her incredible prowess at creating onscreen men we love to hate—but would love even more to date. At the link in our bio, Vogue writer @specteremma upacks why Dunham remains unrivaled when it comes to writing dream boyfriends.

I’m so tired of hearing that woman’s name. I didn’t like her show. Didn’t like her book. Please stop forcing her onto us.

I haven’t seen this show but it might be worth looking at female authors and directors that compare say like Colette who put love interests as supplemental, non essentials to female super positions as creators. The men in contemporary narratives like Girls seem to validate or complicate the protagonists sense of identity rather than support their cental character role.
