I get what he's trying to say. He's talking about rites of passage, like things ordinary people do while growing up which seems to be pretty “normal” to everyone. What I’m struggling to better understand is why he would think that these rites determine whether or not he’s had a “childhood” in the conventional way though l'm sure his was fantastic as it probably was! So many of us would do anything for recognition and fame yet he's always had it from the very beginning. Honestly, it's a pity he's missed out on these rites but at the same time not a big deal cause there's nothing really special about it. A childhood is a childhood nonetheless. On the other hand, red carpets with all inclusive buffet and booze sound a lot of fun lol By the end of the day it’s all a matter of perspective really, and the weight you choose to carry or let go
