Are we killing architecture with minimalism? Homes once spoke in poetry—with turrets, trims, and windows that whispered stories. These Victorian houses weren’t just shelter; they were soul, carved in timber and slate. Now we’re surrounded by blank boxes: efficient but forgettable. What happened to #architecture that dared to feel? Minimalism has its place, of course, but let’s not lose the magic. Let’s bring back the homes imagined by poets and visionaries. 🎥: @imjesscurious_ #architectanddesign • #building #design #victorian #victorianhouse #architect #ferndale #california

But stucco on tudors is beautiful and natural. So don’t totally agree

Heidegger's essay on technology does a great job laying out how the way we perceive and think about the world now is completely different, and beauty is no longer something pursued in architecture as a self justifying thing and an end in itself. Everything now is about efficiency and capital return, return on investment is now only in dollars

I like stucco. Much more appealing than vinyl and you can paint it any color you want. (Don’t paint red brick)

Erm.... stucco is from somewhere where its practical to use it. Architecture like this doesn't expect to be in harsh elements like hurricanes etc.... opinions be opinioning though don't they?

Modern minimalism has gone overboard. It’s churning out entire neighborhoods by developers charging more for less. Even the materials are lower quality in many instances. How many times have I seen modern wood siding peeling off after only three years… most of these developer homes don’t even have any yard at all. Is all price per sq ft profits which the city likes as well (taxes per sq ft).

If architectural minimalism exists, it's because there are clients who enjoy that style just as much... Just like there will be clients who appreciate Victorian or Art Nouveau houses🤷🏻♀️

Stucco was around before these houses. Just different usage...

Mediterranean homes and buildings used stucco-like materials as early as Ancient Greece and Rome, and the tradition continued throughout history across the region. Today’s stucco is a modern evolution of those ancient lime plasters. Since when is Mediterranean architecture minimalist? Mass-produced Cookie-cutter homes in new neighborhoods are a different story though!

the cheaper, the better, craftsmanship is definitely dying... we need people in our lives, not AI ... minimalistic design has nothing to do with construction greed... 😢
