Today Michael Wyetzner of Michielli + Wyetzner Architects joins AD in New York for an in-depth walking tour of Central Park. Everything in Central Park got there by considered choice, not by nature, and the park as we know it today is the result of a design competition held in the 1850s. From hidden through-roads to its calming bodies of water, join Michael as he walks you through why Central Park is the best-designed city park in the world. Revisit the whole tour at the link in our bio.

Central Park is the greatest! I couldn’t live here without it. I go there all the time. Whatever is going on in life, whatever mood I’m in, the park is always a good experience. 🌞

Olmsted was hugely influenced by his visit to Joseph Paxton’s Birkenhead Park in Liverpool, UK, designed as a public space from the start, with rocks, meandering paths, tracks and roads, water, open green space and trees. Well worth a visit.

The park is essential for the health and wellness of the city and its inhabitants. I went there many times in the 5 years I lived there

My son proposed to his sweet wife on a large boulder overlooking the lake in CP… what he thought was a private moment went viral by some teens rowing by… Made a fantastic Central Park moment into a memory for many🤩👏🏻❤️‼️

I was just there with my daughter. My favorite park in the world. All four seasons are portraits of natural beauty and serenity. ❤️❤️❤️
