Images of the exhibition „I to Eye“ at @nakkaart2022 Nakanoshima Museum of Art in Osaka. This extensive exhibition holds a special place in my heart. It is the first major solo exhibition in Osaka in 16 years, returning to my birth place. The solo exhibition is about approaching my experience during the Covid pandemic. I had ten exhibitions scheduled for 2020, but they were all postponed or canceled because of the pandemic. Even if an exhibition still went ahead, the conditions to create within the exhibition space became extremely difficult. After experiencing this remarkable time, we are all trying to return to our life we lived before. After a few years of being forced to distance ourselves from other people, we were reminded that we have connections with lots of people. I talked with Aya Kunii from the Nakanoshima Museum about producing an exhibition with these connections as the theme, and that led to a focus on the three ‘I’s—I (myself), eye, and “ai,” which in Japanese means “love”— and the choice of I to Eye for the exhibition title.
