Tahir Karmali is showing his work at Frieze New York with Management in ‘Focus’ – supported by Stone Island. Born in Nairobi and based in Brooklyn, Karmali explores migration, landscape/geology, labor, and belonging through photography, installation, papermaking, sculpture, and sound. His practice blends material experimentation with conceptual depth, drawing on both personal history and global systems. “It’s studio, then boxing,” says Karmali, who trains daily at @outboxnyc. Karmali has collaborated with Stone Island to design the Frieze New York 2025 staff T-shirts, the fifth in a series of special uniforms created throughout the last two years, finished using the brand’s signature garment dyeing process. Produced by Frieze Studios. @tacaka @management.nyc #FriezeNewYork
