I like Pinterest, or I should say used to. I still use it. My cousin works for them! Anyways, I have really hated witnessing the devolution of this platform from a place that had cool photos and inspiration, to a platform that perpetuates the theft of artists’ work by bombarding users with AI slop. It’s incredibly disheartening. If Pinterest is able to update their terms of service and change regulations around what we can search and what is blocked to protect children and to keep explicit things off the site, then they can be active and diligent in regards to removing AI from the platform. Companies that allow AI usage, or worse, actively use it for promotional purposes, look cheap and immoral to users. Look at Duolingo. People are FLOCKING away from that app because of AI, and I KNOW Pinterest has been receiving criticisms about their use of AI in the past as well. If you truly care about your users, the artists who go to you for inspiration, and the integrity of your platform, then stop using AI.
