8 years ago - I remember the Sony Alpha A7RIII at the forefront of camera technology just about to hit the market. 42.4 Megapixel sensor, 10 fps, ISO 32000 all while keeping a low profile lightweight for use in the backcountry… I was chomping at the bit to blast 100,000 images through this machine and see what it could do. Part of my job as an Artisan for @sonyalpha is to test new equipment and push it to the limit while creating a special set of images to showcase what the cameras are capable of… so in 2017 right before release, they sent me a one and I jetted out to the Southwest and let loose to create something special. I always try to test different facets of photography… high speed action, low light, long exposures, etc.. I shot this 30 second exposure of Delicate Arch and remembered being excited at the clean & colorful result.. it’s amazing to see how far camera technology has come.

How often do you get to wheel your bike through a Casino? Dip in endless rivers, nearly get heatstroke, eat a frozen gas station burrito and absolutely laugh your ass off for 3 days… It was my second time on 187 miles of singletrack, road, gravel and bikepath known as the ‘Tahoe Twirl’ that wraps around Lake Tahoe was so far the best memory of summer 2025 We decided to credit card tour & spend our nights in hotels so we could cut weight- with the objective of ripping more tech single track. Midday heat was a bit nuclear so plenty of lake & riverside dips kept us cool and spirits high and I can’t say I’ve ever wheeled a bike passed slot machines… definitely happy to be back on a healed foot and feeling good in the saddle. @lachlanmorton @thatisgus @carmararda @ns_innovative @anthony.marengo @rapha @ari.bikes @roka @envecomposites @infinitybikeseat @wolf_tooth_comp

Just got back about 10 rolls of film scans and it feels like they’re burning in my hands so I thought I’d share one… The funny thing about this image is the fact that we had just crossed the Vatnajökull Glacier - and I swear we got considerably worse weather on this little 2-day micro mission to Þórsmörk (Thor’s) Valley. It was the perfect Icelandic gamut of weather conditions - with a little good fortune when @ferdafelagutivist opened a mountain hut early for us to stay the night. For those of you who know riding in Iceland - River crossing is a pretty core, iconic moment because it’s inevitable & genuinely results in numb pedaling on frozen blocks of ice that were once your feet. Anyway… I’m passionate about shooting B&W film in Iceland, it feels like they’re made for each other and I have a bunch more to share soon. Faroe Islands, 2014 Shot on assignment for @surfer_magazine Trading the crowded Iineups of warmer destinations for colder waters seemed like an inevitable evolution to me. The experience of surfing became larger than individual performances on a wave… something more expansive, risky… intrepid even. My accomplices in these missions of discomfort became fast friends and I deeply admired their commitment to pushing the boundaries of surf and what the sport meant to all of us. @jquinny @hammered_sam @tyler_warren @ellithor @benweiland @danedamus @41westproductions
