Queen of the Jungle 📽 by @anirudh_laxmipathy No, your eyes are not lying to you, this is not a trick of the camera or an AI-generated video. This is actual footage of a tiger doing as she pleases with a freshwater mugger crocodile. This isn't just any tiger either; this is a legendary member of Ranthambore National Park. Her official name is T-84, but more people know her by her nickname: Arrowhead. While her legend precedes her, in this video she is well past her prime, battling both bone cancer as well as the unwilling participant in her jaws. In fact, she passed away soon after this footage was taken, finally succumbing to the big casino. However, this old girl couldn't sign off without leaving us the parting gift of walloping one more croc, just to let everyone know that the queen might be gone, but she was as lethal as they come right to the end. It's no surprise that Arrowhead grew up to become a slayer of dinosaurs, considering her grandmother was a tiger named Machli, who was also known for putting the hurt on crocodiles at will. Her escapades are well documented, and it stands to reason that her granddaughter carried on this legacy of dummying swamp dragons up until the day she died. Happy #FourthOfJuly from Hubble! 🇺🇸 Stars shine red, white, and blue in this new Hubble image of globular cluster ESO 591-12, or Palomar 8. Globular clusters are spherical collections of tens of thousands to millions of stars bound tightly together by gravity. They are typically formed in gas and dust-rich regions of early galaxies. The multicolor appearance of the globular cluster is due to the differing temperatures of the stars. Hotter stars are bluer, giving off shorter wavelengths of light, and red stars are cooler, emitting longer wavelengths. Image description: Bright stars cluster against a black background.
