Exploring fourteen photography spots in the northern and western Netherlands for your next adventure! With a base in Alkmaar or Amsterdam, nearly all of these spots are within easy reach for inspiring day trips! 1) Schoorl - see pic. 1 Great for sweeping landscapes, minimalist compositions, and golden hour light on the sand ridges. 2) Aartswoud - see pics 2, 3, and 4 Quiet countryside charm, perfect for pastoral scenes with old farms and misty mornings. 3) Schermerhorn - see pic. 5 Classic polder windmills - excellent for iconic Dutch imagery and reflections on still waters. 4) De Kaagmolen - see pic. 6 A unique mill surrounded by waterways. 5) Egmond ann den Hoef - see pic. 7 Coastal village with atmospheric dunes and castle ruins; a blend of history and seascape opportunities, but also for iconic windmill shots. 6) Zaanse Schans - see pics 8 and 9 For classic windmill shots, especially at sunrise before the crowds. 7) Durgerdam - see pic. 10 Colorful wooden houses by the water; ideal for quaint village scenes. 8) Alkmaar - see pics 11, 12, and 13 A lively city with canals and historic architecture. 9) Zeeland - see pics 14 and 15 Dramatic sea defenses, beaches, and stormy skies. 10) Afsluitdijk - see pic. 16 An engineering marvel, ideal for minimalist compositions. 11) Paard van Marken - see pic. 17 An iconic lighthouse, perfect for dramatic seascapes and leading lines. 12) Het Woud - see pic. 18 Ideal for atmospheric woodland photography with mist and wildlife. 13) Koehool - see pic. 19 Known for its old sea dike and wooden fishing fences in Friesland. 14) Petten aan Zee - see pic. 20 Wide beaches with modern sand reinforcements; stunning for empty beachscapes with dramatic skies.” @nomadict: Which other spots would you recommend visiting in the region? 📸
