Textures of the Reykjanes peninsula. Today, a very short-lived eruption began in Sundhnúkagígar, just north of the town Grindavík. The activity stopped after just a few hours, and there have since been earthquakes felt around the peninsula. The magma is on the move, a sign of just how alive nature is here. A note on travel: it’s still perfectly safe to travel in Iceland right now. The eruption was confined to a very small closed off area and flights have not been affected. An encounter I’ll never forget. We came across this male Polar Bear on the north coast of Svalbard, climbing down from the snowy cliffs to reach a whale carcass on the shoreline. I remember the water being so clear that we could see the whale bones on the sea floor. This bear seemed to be diving down to grab the bones, which was a surreal sight from the zodiacs. #svalbard #polarbear

Winter scenes along the south of Iceland. I always get asked where my favourite place is in Iceland. It’s honestly very challenging to answer, but if we exclude the entire highland region and the glaciers (I know that’s like 70% of the land mass haha), then the south east has my heart. It’s been a dream for many years to set up a family cabin somewhere on that side of the country and spend quality time around the beautiful glacial landscapes there with our daughter. Maybe one day we’ll make it happen! #iceland

So often we spend our lives wondering “what if?” and never dare to try and answer. It’s not easy, but nothing worth doing ever is. Life is a gift and all of us have the passion within us to strive for great things, even when we feel we may never achieve them. There is no amount of time spent idle that can silence that curiosity within us, we have to answer it. One of my favourite birds, the Rock Ptarmigan or Rjúpa in Icelandic. In the most pristine winter conditions, we came across this one at the edge of an ice covered canyon out in the highlands. It seemed to be looking down as if it knew of something beneath, perhaps a place to retreat into the rocks, or on the flip side a fox to run away from. Its always challenging to get shots of these birds, they are quite skittish. Using my 100-500 canon lens, I was able to create this photo series, something I’ve dreamed of for a long time! #ptarmigan #iceland

I thought the drone was going to flip 😳 This was probably the most gnarly drone flight I’ve ever done, in extreme wind and extreme cold. Still can’t believe the shots came out this smooth! After successfully driving onto Iceland’s largest glacier for the first time, I had a dream to get some aerial shots to remember this moment. After managing to take off from the ground, I took this clip of the drone getting absolutely smashed by the wind. Was not confident any shots would be usable, but it definitely paid off. Landing was a hectic challenge, I usually catch the mavic but in this case that was not going to happen without loss of fingers haha. In the end I managed to get it on the ground in between wind gusts. The drone was completely frozen over 🥶 Good times in the mountains! #iceland
