Great white sharks have been known to swim near Maine’s coast, but recent efforts by Nat Geo Explorer and photographer @brianskerry have led to the capture of what he thinks is the first underwater image of one in the area. The photograph shows a nearly 10-foot-long great white, a suspected juvenile, and offers a rare glimpse into the marine life that inhabits the Gulf of Maine, where populations of great whites are increasing. Learn more about the sighting and what it tells us about their changing geographic range at the link in bio. Photograph by @brianskerry
