A wave of yellow & purple wildflowers washing across the New Cuyama serves as the marker of spring’s arrival- but also a reminder of heavy rainfall making its way to intersect with the dormant seeds eventually bursting with life. On assignment for @natgeo in 2023 - our brief was to document this eruption of wildflowers (better known as a superbloom) in central California following a series of storms and flooding that brought the state out of a drought. An aerial perspective seemed like the right approach for the colors and contours marking the hills… providing beauty and personality I’ve come to appreciate about my homeland.

Palau's Jellyfish Lake contains millions of tiny golden jellyfish. Relying on sunlight to survive, they spend most of their lives making daily migrations that follow the sun’s arc across the sky. This migration is crucial to the lake's ecosystem.
