Always fun watching how massive these snow melt spring rivers get up here in the mountains 😍! . (Disclaimer) No fish were hurt here and I’m high up a waterfall stack that would make it impossible for fish to get up here in the first place.

Tastes better than the $5 Voss water and is free here in Alaskas alpine mountains . . Disclaimer… I highly recommend doing your own research on what water is safe to drink without filtering as it’s generally going to be a good practice to filter first. However, sometimes in the mountains if I’m remote enough and know I’m near the snow line/water source I don’t mind drinking straight from the source. Again water like this might not affect me but could affect someone who has never drank unfiltered water as our bodies adapt to handing the added bacteria to some extent yet there is always some inherent risk.

Go see @australia in a new way 💚. I recently had the chance to explore K’gari in @queensland , and it was nothing short of incredible. Our days were spent drifting down Eli Creek, sinking into the softest sand at Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie) and wandering through ancient rainforest with @kgariexplorertours . Evenings were just as dreamy at @kingfisherbayresort , where we dined at Dune restaurant (I’m still dreaming about that pesto...😍). One truly unforgettable moment? A sensory and bush tucker walk with a resort ranger - learning how the Butchulla people have used native plants for generations. Trust me, K’gari is a complete treat for the senses 🌿 📍: @visitkgarifraserisland , @queensland – home to the Butchulla people. #seeaustralia #comeandsaygday #brandedcontent #ThisIsQueensland #VisitKgariFraserIsland #ButchellaCountry #KingfisherBayResort #IlluminaKgari. ID: Molly Burke experiences the sounds, touch, and taste of K’gari as she drifts down a lazy river, wanders through an ancient rainforest, feels the exhilaration of a 4WD adventure across the sand, splashes in the shallow of a blue lake and savour the authentic flavours of bush tucker.

Well, that's terrifying via @accuweather Have you ever seen rain like this before? The unusual phenomenon happens when a cloud of dust merges with a storm. The dust mixes with the rain, causing it to appear red or rusty orange as it falls. This phenomenon is also known as "mud rain" due to the dust and dirt left behind.

When All You Have Is A Hammer 📽 by @Capt.josh_santangelo Hammerhead sharks, with their wild, T-shaped heads, are some of the ocean’s coolest and most unique looking predators. Belonging to the Sphyrnidae family, which includes nine species, the great hammerhead is the biggest, stretching up to 20 feet and weighing 1,000 pounds. Their bizarre head, called a cephalofoil, doesn’t look like that just for fun - its a sensory juggernaut, loaded with electroreceptors that sense the faintest electrical signals from prey, even those buried in sand, and provides 360-degree vertical vision for lethal precision in hunting. They also have “nostrils” (called nares) on either side of their heads, which detect odors underwater. They don’t work the same way our nostrils do, they are not connected to the respiratory system of the shark. Instead, water flows into them as the shark swims, and the nares analyze it, looking for chemical cues or tiny concentrations of odor. Because they are so spread apart, the hammerhead can follow prey more accurately, by sampling from either side of its head and following the side with the higher concentration. Pretty cool! Hammerheads feast on tarpon (this fish in this video, the one trying to hide from the hammerhead under the fishing boat), stingrays, squid, and smaller sharks, often using their uniquely shaped heads to pin prey to the seafloor. Found in warm coastal waters they haunt reefs and seagrass beds, and migrate to cooler waters in summer. Full saying: When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Nature Is Metal is powered by you! 哈勃太空望远镜

#OTD in 1994, Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 began to rain down on the planet Jupiter. The comet broke into 21 fragments, and Hubble captured the impacts. This monumental first viewing of an interplanetary impact in our solar system taught astronomers more about Jupiter, comets, and the science of impacts – and played a role in NASA developing programs to address impact risk to Earth. Image description: Four stacked views of Jupiter, from bottom to top: 1) Jupiter with a puff of bright light near its limb. 2) The deep maroon scar of the impact is visible against the stripes of Jupiter's clouds. 3) The impact scar is larger with two distinct regions. 4) The impact scar is becoming more diffuse.
