It’s almost like the govt could create more jobs and bolster travel and tourism if it invested in state of the art infrastructure that every other modern economy enjoys…

Capitalism won't let us have nice things.

Here in Ireland, much of our railway system was dismantled decades ago as people thought cars would take over. It’s a huge loss to us. Prioritise your public transport

The US has told me my whole life that it could build anything. Where is our high speed rail?

Yeah, we should have this. But also look at the pricing for those other countries. It’s way lower than what Acela or even the basic amtrack cost. Why don’t we start there, and not make it even harder for commuters to afford your service.

One of the problems with the Brightline in Florida is the cost. A one way ticket to Miami from Fort Lauderdale during rush hour is $20 - $50. I see so many mostly empty trains pass by I don’t know how they are making money or getting those ridership numbers they claim. I once looked for a last minute fare to get to a show in Miami and it was $56 each way per person. I was not about to pay $224 to get us to Miami and then get an uber to South Beach. It’s disappointing after the promise of having a better option than traffic to get to West Palm or Miami vanished when the coat kept rising.

It’s unimaginable that the US doesn’t have HSR!

Charlotte to Atlanta would be amazing. I hate making that drive but I’ll be damned if I pay what American Airlines wants for that route

Wait till you hear about Trickle Up Austerity. The poor get taxed more, pat more in shopping, energy and fuel and that's it.
