Watch until the end 😳 Yesterday we witnessed a very active period of glacial calving events at Lilliehöökbreen in Svalbard. The pressure from the ice collapsing causes an explosion of water a few seconds after the fall. Absolutely wild to hear the sounds echo across the glacier. Just imagine, calving events are occurring almost constantly all over the polar regions. Scenes like this signal the retreat of the glaciers, which is speeding up more than ever before.

Wow what caused the explosion, was it the ice that first hit rolling over? I couldn’t see more carving. Mindblowing and heartbreaking to see this all at once!
