Zoologist and photographer Sherif Abdallah made this image of a red palm weevil using a microscope lens. He focused on different parts of the insect and made dozens of separate photographs. Combined, the shots create one sharp, clear picture. “Beneath its destructive reputation, the red palm weevil reveals a mesmerizing complexity—each groove, curve, and texture of its exoskeleton tells a story of adaptation, survival, and destruction,” says Abdallah.
