Magnum
Today marks 27 years since the completion of the Good Friday Agreement, signed to help bring an end to the decades-long conflict in Northern Ireland known as The Troubles.
Magnum photographers documented events that unfolded in Northern Ireland during the conflict, depicting scenes of protest and destruction on the streets, as well as violent clashes between soldiers of the British Army, the Irish Republican Army, and civilians.
"As a photographer, when you cover a civil war or a war, it’s not just about the battle and the violence: wars are very complex phenomenons which have aspects that are social, economical, psychological and in this case, religious, as well,” @abbas.photos said of his time covering the events. "So you have to put what you’re seeing — events unfolding — into perspective."
