In The Last of Us, unfortunate victims who are controlled by the Cordyceps fungus are connected by underground fungal tendrils, also known as a mycelial network. Mycelial networks are real but rather than controlling infected hosts, these fungal superhighways transport nutrients back and forth and offer benefits to the plants they are connected to. Now, we can actually see the movement of resources through these efficient, symbiotic networks. Learn more about fungal networks at the link in bio. I don’t get this post. What last of us? What connection to cordyceps? Why cordyceps and not other fungi. Yes apparently mycelium works in networks, which I don’t understand how we have figured that out, and how we depict in imagery.
